SAP S/4HANA is available in both the classic (on-prem) model for operation on your own servers as well as in the cloud; the latter in two variants: on the one hand, the highly standardized SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud solutions, and on the other hand, the private cloud edition with extensive customizing and expansion options. Hybrid scenarios are also possible, where parts of the business processes are shifted to the cloud and others are operated in the company’s own computer center on-premise. The migration is possible with various transformation approaches
Greenfield Approach
With the greenfield approach, the system is built from scratch; all flows are considered and then standardized to the greatest possible extent based on best practices.
Advantage: Complex, individualized ERP systems are replaced with a lean and agile solution – for an ERP new start with optimized processes.
Brownfield Conversion
With the brownfield conversion, the existing ERP system is converted step-by-step and initially receives a technical upgrade to SAP S/4HANA.
Advantage: This approach requires less time and fewer resources; proven processes and structures can be retained in an innovative environment.

Analogous to the classic brownfield conversion, we offer the valantic extended brownfield methodology.
Advantage: Our team works with the customer before and during the conversion to identify sensible optimization and standardization measures, which can be designed, planned, and implemented at the customer’s pace. Hybride Ansätze
Hybrid approaches combine elements of greenfield and brownfield. These include the bluefield approach, which separates data and systems. The relevant data from the old system is selected with special tools (selective data transition) and loaded into the empty target system. This can be a newly established SAP S/4HANA system or the source system on SAP S/4HANA.

The SAP quotation package for the cloud
In order to assist companies with the transformation to the cloud, SAP has put together two quotation packages: RISE with SAP and GROW with SAP. RISE with SAP is appropriate for existing customers who want to change to an SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud or Public Cloud solution. In addition to the cloud software, the bundle includes other applications and services, in particular entry-level packages for SAP Signavio and SAP Business Network, as well as a credit for the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). GROW with SAP is for new customers and medium-sized companies, including those companies that are planning an ERP implementation at a subsidiary. The focus is on the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, with the addition of implementation services and the SAP BTP.
