Inventory is reduced and long-term planning is possible across plants

Prospective clients will have the opportunity to learn about the advanced planning & scheduling (APS) software wayRTS based on a specific project. Biotronik has been working with valantic’s way software suite way since 2017, and it uses the software’s automatic optimizer for capacity planning.
The value chains for pacemakers, defibrillators, and other devices for cardiology and vascular therapies are complex. Various components of the products manufactured in Berlin come, for example, from Biotronik’s plants in North America and Singapore. Planning in wayRTS ensures cross-plant transparency with regard to inventories and capacities. Thanks to real-time simulation of scenarios and automatically calculated, but transparent optimizations that can be traced at any time, it is possible to make equal use of the actual available production capacities. Biotronik does monthly rolling long-term planning across the next two years and was able to significantly reduce inventories and the associated capital commitment at all planning levels.
Less scrapping when changing models
What was difficult for purchasing to see with SAP alone became more manageable with the implementation of wayRTS: Expensive components with long delivery times and some acceptance obligations had repeatedly led to the fact that stock that was no longer required had to be scrapped during product changes. This was one of the reasons for the implementation of the APS software. wayRTS fulfilled this expectation of being able to coordinate phase-outs across plants and significantly reduce scrap costs while simultaneously increasing the global transparency of inventories and capacities.
