Munich, May 25, 2022: The digitization, consulting and software specialist valantic has climbed further up the Lünendonk® list of top IT consultancies. Strong organic and inorganic growth through the addition of six new companies in 2021 helped valantic rise to 20th place, up five positions compared to a year earlier.
Despite the pandemic and its associated burdens on the economy, IT consultants are growing faster than ever before. This is the conclusion of the latest Lünendonk® study. Compared to 2020, the areas that benefited this time round were primarily IT consulting and the provision of development and implementation services for custom software, say the analysts of consulting and market research company Lünendonk & Hossenfelder. The sector ranking and longtime benchmark for the IT consulting market analyzes the IT consulting market’s top players once a year.
valantic successfully exploited the huge demand for IT consulting, as the Lünendonk® list of leading IT consultancies now shows: the company enjoyed strong revenue growth in Germany in 2021, up from EUR 140 million to EUR 220 million, or around 60 percent year on year, notching it up five places in the ranking. Its global revenues also enjoyed robust growth, rising from EUR 175 million in 2020 to EUR 260 million in 2021.
valantic’s strong revenue growth is reflected in a similar trend in the number of experts working there, which rose from 1,128 to 2,025 in 2021. Through mergers with wdp, verovis, proTask, ISM eCompany (Netherlands), abaco Consulting (Portugal) as well as Syrocon, valantic successfully diversified its portfolio with many select disciplines, opened up new international markets and gained market share.
In addition, numerous innovative customer projects were won or implemented in 2021, including various IoT projects such as at life science specialist Tecan, or the global market leader in the field of ophthalmology Alcon. At Corona vaccine manufacturer BioNTech, valantic subsidiary syrocon Consulting provided support in multiple areas such as the company’s warehouse and supply chain management processes. Other prestigious customer references include Swiss health and accident insurer Visana (business analytics consulting), building materials trading specialist STARK Deutschland GmbH (carve-out consulting), food producer Südzucker Group (SAP services), brewery Krombacher Brauerei (customer experience management) and dairy product manufacturer Hochland Group (SAP S/4HANA migration) and many more.
The huge popularity of IT consulting is accompanied by a further phenomenon, namely increasing digitization and transformation pressure on CIOs and their IT departments. According to Lünendonk’s forecasts, open interfaces, scalability and performance as the basis for data-based business models are the main drivers for companies here. This high demand for transformation is increasing the pressure on IT managers: Multiple concurrent digitization projects, as well as internal bottlenecks and the need for specific expertise, have increasingly forced companies to turn to IT consultants for their digital transformations.
According to the survey’s findings, however, those responsible remain optimistic about the future: Working together with IT service providers and exploiting their wealth of experience makes it easier for companies to implement their digitization projects – with a focus on IT modernization, customer centricity, networking of business processes and data processing – despite the increased challenges.
This is also confirmed by Dr. Sebastian Hauptmann, Chief Sales & Chief Operating Officer at valantic: “The study shows that people are thinking holistically when it comes to digitization trends: Companies not only need optimal processes and a corresponding IT infrastructure for a successful digital transformation – the customer journey, cyber security and digital workplaces are also key topics. We recognize these requirements and thus work with a hands-on mentality on customized full-service solutions from the initial strategy through to implementation.”
Commenting on the gratifying findings of the Lünendonk ranking, Dr. Hauptmann adds: “We are very proud to have made further gains in the competitive IT consulting market and, with meanwhile more than 2,500 valantic experts, to be actively assisting companies on the path to digitizing their business models. The strategic mergers of 2021 allowed us to greatly diversify our service range, particularly in the areas of SAP services, customer experience services and digital strategy consulting. On top of this, however, the smart industries, IoT and cloud portfolio, as well as the area of custom software development, have also grown significantly. valantic is just embarking on its journey to the top of the IT consultancy league – and will make further progress in 2022.”
