Munich, Isny, April 26, 2023: The digital solutions, consulting and software house valantic has successfully completed its process and software consulting project at motan operations GmbH, system builder for the plastics industry, at the company’s Isny location. After implementing new planning organization and transparent production planning with the real-time advanced planning & scheduling (APS) system wayRTS, motan was better able to determine reliable delivery dates and also improve and smooth utilization. Following the software implementation, valantic’s supply chain experts worked with this manufacturer of granule dryers to train the “AI”: The automatic optimization algorithms available in wayRTS now handle routine tasks in line with the optimization goals and priorities that the company has approved.
“The success is clearly noticeable. Transparent planning has smoothed out our processes, we have become significantly better, our utilization is more even, and we’ve gotten faster,” says Edgar Heckelsmüller, Head of the Order Center at motan operations GmbH. “The wayRTS planning software allows us to run through various scenarios and make well-founded decisions about prioritizing orders. valantic also provided us with valuable guidance on how to improve data quality in our existing systems.”
The sales & operations planning (S&OP) solution wayRTS, the core of valantic’s waySuite, is based on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) ERP system, which is the leading data system at motan. An important part of the project, which proceeded in parallel with the implementation of the new software and new processes, was the correction, maintenance, and expansion of master data for stored dispatch parameters, suppliers, delivery times, and workplaces.
“We are pleased that motan has mastered challenges such as the lack of transparency about order dates and capacities and the insufficiently informative value of its master and transaction data with our assistance. With the new planning organization and software support, adherence to deadlines and transparency in our processes was increased and planning effort reduced with higher planning quality. Throughput times have also been reduced,” says Daniel Dick, project manager at valantic. “Thanks to configuration of the automatic optimizer, the software now handles the tedious weighing of complex relationships when capacity or material problems arise – motan is now up-to-date with its intelligent planning systems.”
