Munich, Papenburg, January 31, 2024: valantic and MEYER WERFT, one of the largest and most modern shipyards in the world, have signed a cooperation agreement. This digital transformation project, which includes group-wide SAP implementation, also involves the introduction of valantic’s waySUITE planning software. In a first step, the highly complex project management at the traditional location in Papenburg will be modernized and optimized. valantic has already presented a successful proof of concept for coupling the wayPRO multi-project management software with the shipyard’s ERP system.
The shipyard’s order books look good; it has been commissioned to construct several cruise ships by 2031. A project for each of these vessels includes up to 10,000 networked planning operations, each with allocated resources, and several thousand relationships. These figures show just how complex project management at MEYER WERFT is. In a call for bids, wayPRO, the project management module of valantic’s waySUITE software, prevailed. The potential of this software package, which also includes the wayRTS real-time APS software, was an argument for bringing valantic’s supply chain management experts on board.
Christoph Nolting, head of the department in MEYER WERFT’s central planning department, explains how the decision was made: “The highest quality, flexibility with regard to customer requirements, and our adherence to deadlines distinguish us from other shipyards worldwide. In order to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations in the future, we will rely on a comprehensive digital transformation and the modernization of our planning processes. waySUITE provides seamless ERP integration and enables transparent real-time planning. We particularly like the fact that valantic not only makes our complex project management clearer, but that with the software we can also map planning processes in an integrated project plan including capacity and resource planning.”
“With the implementation of wayPRO, we are pleased to be able to make an initial contribution to the restructuring of the software environment at MEYER WERFT,” says Daniel Dick-Wahlberg, Senior Consultant at valantic. “The planning processes and value chains are as impressive as the ships built here. This is an opportunity to demonstrate how much complexity can be mastered with software-optimized transparent planning processes.”
