The website currently lists approximately 15,000 items for B2C and B2B customers. The product portfolio ranges from switches, sockets, dimmers, and sensors to complete systems for building management. The renowned manufacturer not only sets high quality standards on its products but also on their online presentation and the digital customer experience.

The goal: Powerful website with an optimized design configurator

Albrecht Jung planned the relaunch of an existing website, in the course of which the integrated design configurator was to be comprehensively revised. The graphic tool allows users to customize switch elements and choose from a variety of options, materials, surfaces, colors and functions. The tool is primarily used by partners from the craft trades, architectural firms and other construction managers.

The previous solution had been in use for over ten years and showed several weaknesses: For one, the old configurator had to be accessed via a decentralized URL and an external server, which negatively affected performance. Moreover, the tool was not sufficiently expandable in terms of functionality. Also the user interface (UI) no longer met the requirements for user-friendliness and a contemporary look. The revision therefore aimed to comprehensively optimize and modernize the configurator.

An additional task was to present product series as part of a catalog on the new website and to enhance the search options and customer guidance as well as the content and product presentations.

Pixel-perfect & performant: New graphic tool for an ideal customer experiences

After initial consultation by the digital consulting, solutions, and service provider valantic, Albrecht Jung chose a powerful e-commerce system as the basis for the planned redesign: Shopware 6 provided the robust framework to meet the technical requirements of the new website and achieve optimal results.

The design configurator was integrated directly into the Shopware 6 system as a custom plugin. This makes the customization of switches even more convenient and targeted. Switch designs can be adjusted intuitively to preferences and, for example, be labeled with room numbers or usage instructions. Texts, symbols and graphics can be edited with an image filter and easily integrated. The font size and color, as well as the image position and dimensions, can also be defined precisely. Moreover, the new configurator is pixel-perfect: Thanks to the accurate representation, the output can be processed without problems and is displayed identically in all browsers and on all screens, enhancing the clarity of the products.

Innovative Shopware 6 functions for automation & personalization

In addition to implementing the new graphic tool, Albrecht Jung benefits from numerous e-commerce functionalities that Shopware 6 brings to the table:

The Rule Builder and Flow Builder make it easy to adapt the system to specific business requirements and automate tailored workflows without making changes in the backend.
Customizable Shopware tools also contribute to personalizing the customer experience: Dynamic Access and Advanced Search automatically personalize displayed products depending on the target group and play out content based on previous search queries. Despite the extensive product catalog and large amount of data, the Advanced Search ensures quick, reliable hits. Moreover, the Shopping Experiences function allows individual layouts to be applied to several pages, which contributes to the efficient design of a unique and coherent brand presence.

Comprehensive improvements to the new Albrecht Jung website

Through the implementation of Shopware 6, further targeted optimizations could be implemented on the website, which enable holistically convincing customer experiences. These include:

Real-time provision:

The website system is dimensioned in such a way that there is no loss of performance even when providing product descriptions with many images and PDF files. For the smooth import of product and company data, the open-source platform Pimcore was implemented.

Share function:

Users of the graphic tool can invite other users to edit their own projects and configurations.

Elastic search:

The newly set up search functions achieve individual results depending on the country of origin. Precise subject areas can be clustered during the search. This allows both the extensive product catalogs and the entire website to be searched in a dedicated manner.

Fast license sales:

Through the implementation of the e-commerce system, the purchase of software licenses for smart home products can be integrated on the website. License codes are sent to the customer in real-time and can be assigned to the new devices immediately. This way, for example, smart switches are ready for use immediately after receipt.

Compliance check:

The new website features a compliance check interface in the checkout to verify whether a customer is authorized to purchase.

What's next?

The automation processes of the website are to be continuously developed based on Shopware 6. The plan is to gradually integrate all websites from Albrecht Jung into the Shopware instance. The international rollout is also being pushed forward: In the future, the website and integrated configurator will be available not only in Germany but also for users in Austria, United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, France, Singapore, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates. By August 2024, the system had already been rolled out in eight additional countries besides Germany. Additionally, an adaptation of the configurator for the Asian market is planned, which must be considered separately due to its peculiarities in products and production processes.
