Connectivity in access control
On behalf of a leading manufacturer of mechanical locking systems, we designed and developed a proprietary wireless system. The goal was for the connected door locks to operate securely and reliably. valantic delivered a state-of-the-art solution for electronic access control, following the connectivity approach.
Challenge
A leading manufacturer of locking systems had been developing a wireless system for electronic access control for several years. When the project’s success began to stall, valantic’s expertise was brought in.
Consulting approach
After a comprehensive assessment, a new architecture was developed. Based on this, a standard-compliant wireless system with state-of-the-art security features was implemented.
Client benefits and solution:
The client received a performance-optimized, reliable wireless system that offers modern features and integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructures.
The Challenge in Detail:
A leading brand manufacturer of mechanical locking systems had been developing a product range for electronic access control for several years. The goal was to connect the main components – locking cylinders, wall readers, etc. – via a secure and reliable wireless system (SW/HW). As the development progress had not been satisfactory, valantic was tasked with finding a state-of-the-art solution.
Consulting Approach:
The valantic approach for a robust wireless door lock system included the following aspects:
Solution and Client Benefits:
As part of the collaboration, a secure and stable wireless system with modern features was designed and developed. Highlights include Diffie-Hellman key exchange, mesh topology with dynamic routing, and more. PCB design and antenna design were optimized for performance and range, despite the challenging space constraints (metal housing).
