Sascha Jäger shows us in the interview how he, as Team lead HCM Software Engineering, is working with his team to overcome the challenges of digitalizing his customers’ HR processes and how he has a lot of fun at the same time.
How was your start at valantic?
After completing my studies in business IT in Cologne and with more than a few years of professional experience as a consultant a corporate group and in IT consulting, I came to valantic via my network in August 2020. My start was absolutely smooth – I can’t think of another way to say it. It was a friendly welcome, I was immediately integrated, and felt right at home.
What do you especially like about valantic?
The visibility and good networking in the market for my topic – SAP HR – was instrumental in my move to valantic. At valantic people, HCM is pursued and promoted with passion. This starts with the junior employees and extends to the management. Here, I can work in an environment where HCM and HCM technologies are the focus and where there is a lot of expertise.
At valantic, it is particularly interesting for me that there is a large group-wide SAP Division, which offers extensive cross-selling opportunities and through which we can work together on interdisciplinary projects.
We have a great deal of freedom here and space for our own ideas and creativity. Questions and problems are solved pragmatically, and colleagues can be reached quickly. I especially like the trusting cooperation and mutual reliability on the team, that’s just fun.
That sounds really exciting. Please tell us what you do as Team leader HCM Software Engineering.
I have a lot of different roles as a Team Lead, which is what inspires me. In addition to managing and developing the team, I work as a subproject and project manager on HCM projects. My SAP HCM spectrum starts with project launches and also includes support for SAP Fiori. I assist with the topic SAP SuccessFactors and work with my team to integrate SuccessFactors and other cloud applications into the SAP environment, to redesign and optimize business processes, etc. As service manager, I am the first point of contact for my customers – mostly HR managers and IT managers – and I have a lot of fun working with them to develop new topics and systems.
With my focus in HCM, I can support, implement, and digitalize all the HR processes in HR management “end-to-end” in the best possible way. We can look at a wide range of end-to-end processes, but we can also go into depth in the individual process steps. So we really pick up our customers exactly where they need us.
What are the specific challenges of your job?
It is always a challenge to complete projects on time and on budget. In every project, it is always exciting to adapt to a wide variety of customers and to ensure great customer satisfaction through our work. This sounds simple, but it’s not. Here, you must already have a passion for dealing with people and be able to put yourself in their shoes in order to fulfill their needs professionally and with the right technology. You have to stay on the ball, constantly get involved in new topics – in short, it never gets monotonous, and I like that.
Don't miss a thing.
