Karsten Ötschmann, valantic Partner & Chief Sales Officer

valantic has immense potential, and I’m eager to work closely with our teams to propel this success story forward.

“Actively shaping growth – Embodying and exemplifying leadership – Developing potential”

What makes your role at valantic so special?

valantic allows me to work with many exceptionally talented colleagues and lead a unique consulting firm to the pinnacle of our industry. We have a clear vision: to become not the largest, but the most respected, brand. This distinction cannot be bought, only earned, and such respect is earned by surpassing one’s self-imposed goal of consistently premium service. I am committed to making a meaningful contribution towards this goal every single day.

Do you have any distinguishing strengths that set you apart?

Throughout my career, I have consistently prioritized the professionalization of companies and consultancies and stimulated robust growth with the team. At valantic, I continue this focus within the SAP Services and Smart Industries divisions. I thrive on actively driving change, implementing innovative processes and cutting-edge technologies to enhance our customers’ competitiveness and long-term viability, and helping colleagues achieve their individual professional aspirations. Our impressive roster of recent reference customers and sustained growth are a testament to our success in these endeavors.

What are your most important work principles?

I place great importance on upholding personal values, assuming responsibility, and taking a proactive management approach. I strive to create an environment where everyone loves developing outstanding results, celebrating successes, and enjoying themselves. As a passionate consultant, this is the formula for my own success and that of my teams.

Could you tell us about your professional career?

I’ve spent over 25 years as a management consultant in leading managerial positions, including multi-year tenures at hidden champions such as J&M Management Consulting and Lodestone/Infosys Consulting. I was also a Partner and Technology Consulting Leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Through this experience, I have gained a deep understanding of every aspect of the consulting world, from strategy to execution. Besides my role at valantic, I am a member of supervisory and advisory boards at various companies where I leverage my expertise to further their growth and success.

I hold a degree in economics and spent many years as a lecturer in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Wuppertal, specializing in supply chain management.

What do you do during your leisure time?

When I am not at work, I am a devoted family man, living with my wife and two of my three grown-up children in Barcelona. My eldest daughter currently lives in Sydney. I enjoy jogging, padel tennis, and golfing. I also love to read and my unfinished dream is to complete a children’s book that I began during the pandemic.
